The council has adopted the sewer and stormwater rate plan and authorized up to $125 million in bonds to fund it, as of Sept. 3, 2026 — a 10% sewer rate increase starting in 2030, the first since 2019, plus a new $3-a-month stormwater fee. No further dated step is on the record.
The council has not voted: on Sep 1 it pulled the request from its agenda and referred it to a three-member review committee. The casino foundation's pledge is contingent on council approval by Dec. 31, 2026. The county is asked for $15 million up front and $6 million a year toward a $222 million plan.
Additional Appropriation 2026-42 is tabled, held a second time on Sep 1, 2026 at the prosecutor's office's request with no vote taken. No return date is set. The request is $502,000 in seized-asset forfeiture money: $250,000 for vehicles, $52,000 for contractual services, $200,000 for equipment.
The $500,000 request to rebuild the courthouse's only secure inmate elevator is off the county council's agenda for a second month, pulled on Sep 1, 2026 at the commissioners' request while they wait on another repair estimate. No funding decision has been made and no return date is set.
